Simple steps to join
If you wish to join us on a regular riding basis there are a few things that need to be done
- Contact us via email or WhatsApp
- You will need to complete an introductory ride. This is design to ensure you are setup to ride in a group and understand how to safely navigate our roads using common hand signals. This ride is conducted on a monthly basis in Richmond Park and consists of:
- A simple bike setup assessment (road and gravel bikes welcomed)
- Quick check of spares (inner tube, tyre levers and pump)
- Cycling competency – Ability to cycle at a pre-determined pace (based on target group pace), in a straight line. Awareness of hazards and “reading” of road situation/conditions
- Awareness of standard riding etiquette including common hand signals
- Ability to ride in a group
- You will also need to read, understand and acknowledge the risk assessment (link : )
- After you join us for a minimum of two (2) rides, you will be encouraged to join the Stragglers Sports Club (to which Stragglists is a part). The membership is currently £25 pp/pa
IMPORTANT
- All riders must ride with a CE/UK standard approved helmet
- U18s are NOT permitted to ride with Stragglists groups due to extra insurance and safeguarding requirements.
- All riders ride at their own risk. It is recommended that riders take out their own insurance from either British Cycling or an alternative insurance broker/underwriter
- Any “risky” riders may be asked to leave a group ride. This decision will be responsibility of the ride leader and is designed to protect all riders from unnecessary risk. Risky riding may include excessive speed, undertaking, endangering other road users/pedestrians and lack of group participation when highlighting unsafe road conditions
- Stragglists is a social cycling club and does not support/partake in Racing. In the event you wish to race, then you are more than welcome to join another local cycling club with full British Cycling Membership including race licensing
